API-firstCommon questions
What's the difference between Aether and Ayrshare?
Both are developer-first social media APIs. Aether adds an MCP server for AI agent integration, a full inbox/DMs API, OpenAPI spec, and SDKs in 7 languages. Ayrshare covers more platforms (Pinterest, Telegram, Google Business Profile) that Aether doesn't currently support.
Does Buffer have a developer API?
Buffer has a limited API that covers scheduling but doesn't expose their full platform feature set. It lacks webhooks, an inbox API, and multi-platform support comparable to dedicated API-first platforms.
Does Hootsuite have a public API?
Hootsuite's API access is gated behind enterprise plans and a partner program. It's not accessible to individual developers or small teams without an enterprise contract.
What social media API is best for developers?
For pure API-first developer use, Aether and Ayrshare are the two strongest options. Aether leads on AI agent support (MCP server), inbox API coverage, and multi-language SDKs. Ayrshare leads on platform breadth. Buffer, Hootsuite, and Sprout Social are dashboard tools that happen to have APIs, not API-first products.
Which social media APIs support webhooks?
Aether and Ayrshare both support webhooks for post status events (published, failed) and inbox events. Buffer, Hootsuite, Later, and Loomly do not have webhook APIs accessible to developers.
